2005 Lucinda Means Memorial Bicycle Parade
John Lindenmayer & Kirt D. Livernois
4/14/06
Over 70 bicyclists braved the cold spring rains in honor of Lucinda J. Means on May 19th, 2005. The Lansing Police Department escorted riders down Michigan Ave where the Memorial Bike Parade ended at the State Capitol.
John Waterman of PEAC (Program to Educate All Cyclists) led the parade by riding a tandem bicycle with the front seat left empty in memory of Lucinda. Dignitaries, colleagues, and friends spoke from the Capital steps of her perpetual passion as a bicycle advocate. Lucinda Means, the first Executive Director of the League of Michigan Bicyclists, was honored with a special tribute presented by Sen Michelle McManus.
The LMB Board & Staff would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all those who helped to make this special event happen.
